Gilbert Norton Phillips

Gilbert was born to Mr W P & Mrs Mary Maude Phillips. He joined the local volunteer battalion in 1900 & in 1914, and although married with childen, he joined up & served in France. He was gassed in December 1917; reported missing in December 1917 in Cambrai, but had actually been taken prisoner to a camp in Karlsruhe, then to an officer's camp at Heidelburg where he remained until the end of the war.
