George Henry Mumford

George was as son of George Henry, a bricklayer, & Mary. The family lived in Sheaf Street where George was a clerk at the Royal Welsh Warehouse & later for Charles Sydney Pryce, solicitor. He married Mary Anne. Following several postings in this country he sailed for he Dardanelles & took part in the Suvla Bay landings. He was moved to Egypt where, in the Battle of Gaza he was shot in the head by a machine gun & died immediately. He is commemorated in St David's Church & the Wesleyan Chapel.
