John was born to John, a bricklayer and Jane and lived with them, and a brother & a sister in School lane. He was killed when his ship, HMS Defence was struck by a German torpedo and sunk shortly after. His ship was instrumental in the sinking of the Wiesbaden. He is commemorated in Llanllwchaiarn Church.
